Moscow2

Caring folks of the world, unite!
Don’t tell me this isn’t your fight.

Fear makes and shoots bombs,
killing children every single night.

Love is the most powerful weapon
forged in the fire of Creation…
Adults who make and shoot guns
to kill have lost sight of naked life,
have replaced it with love of nation.

Give what you got, wake up at
the sound of another mortar blast!

Get up now, grab a bag, take your
kids to the East not West!

Yes, I said it… It’s time we paid a
visit to the source of hate.

Bring love, food, flowers and music
before it is indeed too late!

They paint a picture and it’s tempting
to judge.  But I’ve never spent a day
in someone else’s shoes, I need to
purify so start with myself—

Who?

Me and my band of loving thoughts
we’re marching to Moscow to confront
the big boss.

We shall bring love and food and music
and flowers, straight up the gut of fear,
many yelling at us that “we’re headed
for a nuclear power!!”

We hurdle obstacles but do not
hit back when they hit us.

The press snaps photos, others tell
stories, and the human heart that’s
in each and every man, woman and child
will beat as one because love is…

Love is actually what we all want,
even Vladimir Putin.

Higher Power2

We run and we run.  A virus drops or a guy goes wild on the world stage with big explosions, and it’s tempting just to run, run, run.

What’s a virus next to balanced, thriving, healthy days of life?  What’s the virus against a well-oiled immune system, eating good foods, working, playing and loving in a vibrant proactive fashion?

What are Vladimir Putin’s bombs and aggression next to a mother’s love?

***

Let’s stop running and square up our problems like men and women.  If someone bombed my hometown I wouldn’t refugee away from the bombing, but march to the source and have a talk with some people.  Unarmed, Christian, loving, direct talk.

Of course evil exists.  It always has and always will.

What’s your response to it?  Run?

I say, let’s live toward our problems, not away from them.  Live with the Power that ignites us all!  Live toward our enemies and love them back to sanity!  Live so well that our blood will pump into every extremity with a beating heart that will never stop for a measly virus!!!

There is a Power greater than evil, so align with it.  Never cower to the bully!  Love him.

Never cower from a virus.  Love today!

Virus1

-by Bill Watkins 7/31/2020

Death stats are reported by folks who believe deeply in death.  Physical death.  That’s it, we’re done, the physical is all…  But isn’t there another way to live and see life, death and health?  The spiritual way, one under-represented right now in governments world-wide?

Back when I still believed in the invalid United States of America, I wrote an article entitled “What is Health?” which included Twitter poll results from users, who shared their definitions:

1. Bill Watkins:  “Health is a Peace of Mind, Knowing I did the best I could to be the best person I was capable of becoming in all my affairs.”

2. “Duck,” Anti-Circumcision Activist:  “Health is discovering yourself and feeding your truth.”

3. Online T-shirt Salesman:  “Health means your state of being and ability to function naturally.”

4. Aaron V. from Lake Tahoe:  “Health is natural whole foods, clean water, clean air, a nature soundscape with wildlife, good social relationships, the freedom to explore and then see self-improvement or progress, and having a shelter or sanctuary where one can retreat to and be certain to have all of those things despite what else is going on in the world.”

5 Sonya on Twitter:  “I believe saying ‘I am healthy’ is relative to your own circumstances. For me, I feel health is a state of physical wellness as well as mental wellness. I believe it’s hard to say I am healthy if either one is compromised to a degree where we are not enjoying living our lives. If we are feeling the best we can for our age and capacity – in that everything is functioning as well as can be expected – and we are getting through each and every day with quality of life in tact, even if it has to be aided by medication, then to me that is healthy. If body and mind are still functioning well enough for me to enjoy life, then I am healthy.”

6. College Newspaper Staff:  “I’d say health is a state of being. I think it’s a perceived value of physical, emotional, and mental stability and regularity for each individual person. The achievement of ‘healthy’ will differ from person to person based on lifestyle, availability of nourishment and space, and personality.”

7. Dan R., Twitter:  “Being good in mind body and soul.”

8. Yvonne on Twitter:  “Health is a balance of spiritual, mental and physical well-being”

9. Anastacia on Twitter:  “Health to me means that I’m happy, I am not sick, I can laugh with out being in pain.”

10. Poetry Group on Twitter:  “Health is the harmony of our body.”

11. Carlos M. on Twitter:  “Wellness is a holistic approach to life that includes diet and exercise first with traditional medical care second. ”

12. Ariel B. on Twitter:  “Health is Peace of Mind.”

13. Marion W. on Twitter:  “Time set aside in solitude and/or quietness to grow, reflect, write and decompress.”

And… how about Google?

14. Google:  “Health is the state of being free from illness or injury.”

***

A lot of different perspectives, so why do governments think they can represent us all on this issue?  They stay away from mixing the state with religion, but aren’t they coming across many of our personal, even religious beliefs by putting their hands into such a controversial bowl of heaven keys?

“Peace of mind” is a short version of my definition for health, as it was for one of my Twitter poll participants—something that has little to do with Western medicine’s extracting blood, focusing on the physical, administering drugs.  Core to the Western medical business is core to religion: giving folks peace of mind, that they will heal from hardship.  Religion goes on to speak of heaven, doctors stop at peace…  Maybe those two words and concepts are in some ways interchangeable.

But in neither heaven nor earth will it ever be right to decide someone else’s health path, if that someone is an adult of sound mind.  Who should decide mental soundness?  I’d say, based on my Twitter poll and personal conviction, more people should be involved in health decisions, from different fields of study, and different beliefs.  There is more to heaven, earth, and health than is cooked up in Western medicine’s cake, and it’s time governments recognize that, call out doctors for the fallible people they are.  They have fancy degrees, I concede the hard work that goes into them, but who can say something divine or perfect grants them?

To me health is a peace of mind, knowing I did my best to be the best person I’m capable of becoming—a spiritual concept, borrowed shamelessly from the late, great John Wooden.  “Death” to this humble citizen of Mexico, the invalid United States and someday England: doesn’t exist, if with faith in God you lived a good life.  “No good thing ever dies,” mused Stephen King once upon a time, and I agree.  So why all the talk of “Covid deaths?”  Did those souls not live?  Why not talk about their life?  Where is the gratitude for the air we breathe, for the lives we get to live, for our amazing immune systems?  If this was our last day to live on earth, what would you do with it?  Panic?  Complain about death?  Whine about a virus?

Not me.  The above set of questions reminds me of my old life, one in which I was spiritually dead, playing sports and drinking alcohol instead of loving my parents, life, a woman, and being an honest, honorable person.  There are worse things than physical death…  Among them, a life in fear, and as such out of love—if you adhere to St. Paul’s ideal.  So love life!  Live today!!  Say thanks to what you say thanks to, because tomorrow is a big question mark, salvation for me in peace of mind, something I’ll never get wearing a mask or fearing my fellow man for any reason whatsoever.

Fear is the killer, folks, FDR echoed here…  Fear is the virus.  Inoculate yourself against it by living great days in faith, in love and free of alcohol or drugs…  Thanks for your attention, an open mind following truth as a key to serenity, willingness putting us on the road, proper relations with our fellows and the earth a guarantee for eternal life.  Never death

Covid1

by Bill Watkins 5/11/2020

***

I picked up a weird virus a couple months ago.  Something I had never felt before, a dramatic ache starting in the supermarket one day, then a strong three week fever.  No cold symptoms, just the fever and a horrible headache, which seemed an exaggeration of the one I had before picking up the virus.

I get sick when I’m off-balanced in life, in this case I had been writing too much, eight days in a row without a break.  When I write a lot, I rest a lot.  If I rest too much, including the use of ice packs to my neck, I will develop a headache from too much pillow contact… That’s how I came into the supermarket that day, and I picked up an ugly bug.

I blame no one.  Not the little girl I met on the bus to town, whose mom said she had diarrhea and was heading to the doctor’s.  Not the people I greeted at the market, or anyone else on my bus… This was the beginning of the Covid-19 panic, and all the market employees were wearing masks, making me think I was searching for produce in a hospital emergency room.

There was fear of illness, my own headache and being off-balance, and there you go… I got the evil thing that was out there.  Was it Covid-19?  I’ll never know, because I don’t go to doctors or believe in Western medicine.  I’m sober eighteen years, live in the mountains, know what is healthy for me and do it (most of the time).  Doctors’ offices are overcrowded, over-air-conditioned and over-priced.  No thanks.  I fail to see the health there.

Drawing blood out of my body, where I always thought it would do the most good; giving me experimental drugs at a hint of depression; selling experimental science as if it were factual; compromising itself with politics, getting rich and those viper insurance companies hiking up already exorbitant prices!  No thanks.  I prefer the country, my faith in God, dabble in Christian Science—using the bible and prayer for a positive attitude and health.

But I did get sick!  I get sick about every other year… I admit, this one was wild, stayed with me for a couple months off and on, just that fever ickiness washing over me every once in a while… Sickness!  I got it because I was off-balanced and my immune system was down from its normal strength.  Did I get it because someone “infected me?” Did I get it because I wasn’t wearing a mask?  Did I get it because I was not practicing the blatantly un-Christian concept of “social distancing?”  No.  No.  No.  I reject all of those theories posing as facts for governments to use in their irresponsible, un-Christian, anti-spiritual, pro-Western medicine, shady legislating. Why shady?  The U.S. Government (nor any other I know) has never even defined the word “health…” That’s a big deal when bills try to address “health”-care!

I like good science.  X-rays are cool, for instance… Facts!  I’m saddened by the Covid-19 Panic of 2020 for two reasons: 1. It’s bad spirituality on display and 2. it’s bad science as well.  Yelling out a virus’ name, being scared of it, obsessing about it creates a false god.  Religions which have cowered from the virus should be ashamed, re-read the Ten Commandments in the bible, and “Have no gods” before the One God!  Yell out God’s name!  Fear that!!  Center thoughts on God, love and Faith, then…. “Where the heck did that silly virus go?”  It goes away, like every other flu that’s ever hit a flu season!!

That’s what my strange virus did over time, like any other sickness I’ve ever felt.  It went away… It was a hard struggle, horrible headaches, fever, aches, losing pizazz and my passion for life, not being able to write more than a couple paragraphs in three weeks!  Bummers galore!  I even cursed God out, I have to admit, more than once!  Mostly because in the middle of my sickness the locals where I live in Mexico set off fireworks a stone’s throw from my house, the week of Saint Joseph, littering our peace with bombs.  Went right to my temple, throbbing, shooting pain to go with the chest pain and twitches I always get around those stupid things.

Then the mosquitoes came… Just when I’m getting some sleep to bash that virus out, the buzz at my ear, and I’d have to hunt down the buggers for an hour!  Calamity! Injustice!  Why’d you make this horrible crap, God!?!?  I was ticked.  And sick… Near suicidal, flashing thoughts of self-harm… But… little by little… I apologized to God, that saint’s week of dumb fireworks passed, the mosquitoes gave me a break.

In 12-Step groups, I used to hear the expression, “God never gives us more than we can handle.”  I think there’s something there.  I was brought to the brink, but I had enough faith, positive thinking through my Christian Science training, and patience to gut it out and win.

Mother Earth2

The bible was law, among
other things, code with rules
and goals set for students
and readers to follow for
spiritual fulfillment, and as
a guide to reach heaven.

Civilization needs law, people
packed in together, concrete
and asphalt beginning to take
us away from the Earth, nature
itself being our first and only
needed book to guide us…

The smile is within, the bloom
on the field, many plants in
limbo needing more sun or
more rain, the cycle of life all
around us—including paper
and ink, laws and rules fine…

God, good orderly direction,
higher powers, the Supreme
Mover of all things; it’s a
relationship we may have
with a simple ask, or a prayer.
Use a book or the tree to

help you overcome your fear.
What unifies is a proper guide,
what separates in negative vibe
from a lower power, as my AA
sponsor would say, powerful too—
Pick one, it’s up to you!

Great Mex1

The old Jews were “gathered
to their people.”

You live a righteous life along
the straight and narrow.
You stay the course,
once you find a good one;
You make amends for your
past ills and you seek a way
to live forever.

Eternal life is the stream, it
goes and goes with or without
us, but to make an impact,
to exist in a child through
blood or something you taught…

I wanna be in the cycle!

God places us perfectly where
we are, it’s fair and honest;
Sometimes young we get
abused into poor habits
that make adults out of us…

This is about finding our
way back to youth!

I wanna be in the cycle!

The grasshopper is there,
frogs in the desert climbing
trees today, who knows for
tomorrow—

Moments are eternal, and
what we do can matter, so
measure well before carving
then carve with me a path
to heaven—

Today is the cycle!

Look up, sing, dance, give
your gift and take a deep
breath that one day will
be forever, a smile on the
lips of the mind’s peace
at having done our very
best, John Wooden’s test.

That’s the cycle!  See you
on it, let’s go, just be your best,
Wooden’s test let’s go

Believe in yourself!

Believe God made you right, perfect
for who you are and when you were born—

there is nothing wrong—are you alive?

If “Yes,” say “Thanks!” and go help
someone in the few minutes we get
on earth to make an impact!

Pray to something big.  Live good days,
and if you feel a lot of pain—

bearing a cross can yield a rainbow from
the rain!  No pain and no gain my sweet,

I gave a few bucks to a dentist once to
pull out my teeth!  Grateful for that, and
some doctors’ expertise.

But let’s take all Western Medicine with
a grain of salt—not alcohol!  Let’s be a little
tougher, know it’s okay just to let
nature heal us—

Something that can’t be done very well
in a metal box firing down the freeway at
seventy miles per hour.

We have to live on the ground a bit to truly
see the vision—see your power!

“I have a vision,” the sober say when they
wake feeling good like a child at Christmas
time.

We deify too many things, but relax:

It’s exactly as it seems!

Words are the glue we spew to fill the seams.

The talk of equality nothing compared to
the Dream!

(It’s a Martin Luther King thing!)

95 theses tacked on a door to rise up
and live while alive, avoid the place
where too many flies fly—

Keep as clean and sanitary as you can
without obsessing and calling your
doctor now, then and again and again.

Trust your body!  Believe in yourself!

Take up your bed, Lazarus!—or Bob, Robby,
Ricky and Mike—Darla, wouldn’t it be darling
to don the smile of the healthy while the
health appeared to be falling.

“Fake it ‘til you make it!”

Read a Henry Longfellow poem, better
yet a positivist Ella Wheeler Wilcox rant!

“Optimism” reminding us that when you
speak health, God will hear your words…

And make them true.

Every recipe for suicide
questions life, but only some end up
in killing bombs and Dodge Chargers.

Murder is a suicidal act, we kill part
of ourselves, judge another, take
a life, fail to recognize the thing we kill
in ourselves, go on with that flaw
until we see a light.

That is for those who make it past
the suicidal blaze of “glory”—dubbed
terrorist acts by those who deny
the Devil his due.

***

Boom, the “terrorist” died too, but
we condemn the sick as “evil” or if
illegally, unethically in high office call
them “losers.”

We lose and call it a win, call it Trump
logic, right is left and up is down—
yes this is the world we live in, not
surprising the reader of Samuel’s interaction
with the LORD over whether the people
should have a King.

We should not, or if we do, give the
mantle to God him or herself, but that
takes a backseat to the ramming
Charger, now mowing down a Paris
pedestrian, now in a London concert,
now in Barcelona.  Sick.  Not losers.

Hungry, Angry, Lonely and/or Tired,
let’s drop Twinkies not bombs, reach out
and keep our foreign aid robust.

Give all you can, Love your Enemy, and
if confronted with horrible hate, return
it with unmistakable love.

***

And relax.  It’s worse than you think…

Karma is best served with chicken curry
over rice at your friend’s Pakistani
house by a Filipino maid named Aning.

But we can’t always choose its form, and
while we live through the curse God
promised to Samuel, and which he
relayed to the Jews…

We let the CIA continue its rule.

They murdered Kennedy in 1963,
now they Tweet how great they are,
and shiny balls dance around eclipsing
Truth, convincing many that the past
doesn’t matter.

It’s okay we lied to Native Americans
about their land, stole it from under
them for the gold there or perceived
to be there.

Meanwhile we missed the true gold
that was the native culture and love for land.

*****

It’s okay we had slaves and never made amends
to Africa-descended people.  “It’s too far
back to do anything about it,” so we go on
spending money we don’t have on the next
medicine to be peddled directly to patients
and children on TV.

“Ask your doctor about…”  Well, I’ll ask
them about Karma, see what they say.

I’ll ask them about their own medical
problems, their addictions, their apparent
polytheistic confusion.

“Have no gods before me” didn’t stop
the south from their confederate monuments.

God lets us fail over and over again, so that
perhaps we can go back to Samuel in spirit,
finally say:

“God, we are so very sorry we abandoned you
years ago.  We want you to be our king
after all.”

And God will not listen, as he or she promised
to Samuel.

Because we don’t have to ask; only to accept
that we are not in charge, that our leaders are
human beings, imperfect, and easily-corrupted.

The Warren Commission lies hurt, the inner-cities
reeling, and judging others as “terrorists” does
not address the terrorism going on in your
own heart and mind.

The demons in you need attention if they
are to depart, ask Gandhi or Martin, listen
to Jesus or whoever’s got the hot hand.

Wikipedia convicts Oswald without a trial,
Oswald’s 6th amendment fought for by Lane
and achieved, if anyone willing to read a book.

Hate speech is treasonous; there’s no
amendment for it.

The wife of my youth doesn’t like me,
But I always try to love her, for that is how
the stars bring me peace instead of War at
Christmas time every year.

Ask your doctor about soliciting reviews
and feedback on every business interaction.

Perhaps they will say something I believe:

Money’s my feedback.  If you have mine, good job.

If I ask for it back, you failed.

Ask your doctor about Donald Trump, and
get an answer;

Ask God, and get The answer:

Love him.  Love you.  Love all, and make
God king and doctor once again.

—by Bill Watkins 4/9/2017

Native American Health3

We used to live on the earth.

Before concrete, metal, helicopters and sirens.

Humankind has been at war with nature and Powers greater than ourselves forever.  We have tried to organize, defeat cold and hunger of course.

We began to paint on cave walls, make art, seek eternal life and our place in an eternal life cycle.  That expression was valued in some cultures, not in others.

Native American thinking always placed God’s art—nature itself, before human achievements.

“Yes, Niagara will be Niagara a thousand years hence!  The rainbow, a wreath over her brow, shall continue as long as the sun, and the flowing of the river—while the work of art, however carefully protected and preserved, shall fade and crumble into dust!”

—George Copway, Ojibwe Tribe

“White man’s pictures all fade, but the Indian’s memories last forever.”

—Indian Guide (1882)

Those quotes are two of hundreds that changed my life a couple summers ago, when my wife picked up Kent Nerburn’s The Wisdom of the Native Americans and brought the book to a beach trip up the central Californian coast.

Nerburn compiled a masterpiece, from a culture that was not obsessed with writing history, but actually engaged in living as one with its nature.

“The white people must think that paper has some mysterious power to help them in the world.  The Indian needs no writings; words that are true sink deep into his heart, where they remain.”

—Four Guns, Oglala Sioux

***

There are benefits to civilization;  without benefits, it never would have happened.

But the devil is weaving quite an enticing maze, battling the Creator like us, for control.  The devil loves the speed with which people drive “progress” forward.

The devil loves forgotten history, repeating mistakes, and forgetting creation.

Ingratitude another favorite.  The disease of “more” more and more engulfing people, unless…

***

Unless we stop.  Go back.  Remember our part in this…  Be grateful for the ground, and perhaps consider traveling to our people’s first ground.

Track your way back to where Earth spawned you.  Be at home.

Re-engage with the cycle of life, and find the eternal in the first eternity.

The one before religion.
