Through Travelers’ Eyes

-by Bill Watkins 5/31/2017

ForTheGirls2

By “American” let us refer to first Americans first: The Native peoples who first populated this land.

Pause to consider your role, your peoples’ role in respecting this land, or cursing it with some version of a European gold rush.

***

Today I traveled south from Tongva Nation’s “Los Angeles” by train to a beach of my youth:

St. Malo community in South Oceanside, California.

St. Malo

There is a place in dreams, not far from the heart
of sand and song, the surf it moves us from
Pasadena to Oceanside in weekend shifts.

The soul searches and finds adventure of the
water kind, up and down motion, a fishline
bobbing for fish, rock-collecting on the shore.

It’s all free once there, hard work for some built houses,
others invited guests, the style French inspired
from a walled Brittany gem, quaint and far away

Despite the easy hour and fifteen it can take
to reach Cassidy and a break from hustling bustle.
We’ve arrived.  This is St. Malo!

Unload the car, get food ready, I’ll take this bed,
I can hear the waves, see them almost, let’s
sleep and dream of tomorrow’s activities…

Some sleep in the sun, some not until cooled by
saltwater, others volleyball, the tennis a perennial
favorite even paddle-tennis.  Kids learn to not do

is as fun as doing, the key to paradise always being
freedom.  Add to that a peace of mind, go further
or stop right there at an easy smile.

Hard to come by for many, but once there so easy.
Some listen to music, dance at the cabana, will
a romance start?  Only if prayer can yield honesty—

Some are not ready, but all just where we’re supposed
to be.  The sun comes up on the rich and poor, leveling
us all as human, gratitude the most sane of emotions
weaving like water on water proof cloth until the cracks
in us are found; made whole, we fill that hole we made
making a fort by the water.  Castles made of sand

“melt into the sea, eventually” said the poet, Jimi,
which is fine making room for more to be made, future
trips down the five, stumbling and bumbling down
the PCH Hill Street, a rainbow donut in the morning
steaks and s’mores reading favorite poets singing
songs at night, together we find life warm and worth
the mundane.

Frost and I settle gathering no moss rolling down
a zillionth poetic excursion away from life to find
its keys and truth:  Hope if in the Pacific be, may
it continue to rest with us on asphalt carrying beach
chairs, towels and umbrellas to the sandy break,

The quaint French scene in Socal blue, red and green,
the gold of sand at sun-up and down reminding us
it’s okay just to be….

St. Malo Image

Divorce is the great nightmare, the great deception next to “alcohol” consumption cooked up by the devil as yet another gold rush.

Deny it.  Refute it, best yet:  Rebuke it all in favor of One love, One God, and true Law.

Divorce

The disease of more grabs us late
at night, convincing us there’s
something better out there than what we have.

Women and men chase their tails
and other men and women around
in circles risking jail cells, nut houses
and all that rhymes with misery and
broken dreams.

Sexual security is on the line, “the right
to choose” so powerful and inviting
so why can’t I go back on a promise?

Abuse is another thing.  Child safety
and your own as we leave in quiet
darkness before he comes back home.

“I’ve had it with her binges,” he says.
Conveniently, he’s met somebody else.

The grass is never greener on the other
side, just vulnerable to the elements
as much as any other grass.

Children bearing the brunt, finding
ways to understand including drugs and
alcohol, the suicidal thoughts streaming
in with other questions about my existence.

“Maybe it’s not meant to be.  I was not
meant to be.”  They left me….

Ha!!!  I cringe when they ask on buses or
trains, “Where are your parents?”  Maybe I’ll
make up a story that they live happily
in my heart.  I’ll make it true by decorating
the grave of my alcoholic imagination until
revived, I walk out of the plot to
haunt poetry readings with humor and
good cheer, because…

Because I am proof that Mom and Dad were
here, and in me they were never divorced,
cannot be.

“Man cannot separate what God has bound
together.”  My parents are not divorced, and so
when asked for now on about the status
of my earthly creators, I shall say with that
Frostian sigh:  “Married these fifty years.  Struggling
to see it in a long imagist vacation into ‘Mo Betta’, the
disease of more and other people, places and things.
Festus and Bacchus, the Devil’s black hole.”

For ages hence I’ll say: here I am

***

“Man cannot separate what God has bound,”

So man or woman up, hear the sound, this your lucky day to turn that upside down frown twice up and down, and be the heart that thrills the child and the clown.

You cannot please two masters, worship two gods, and once you marry:

You have become one with another under God, which cannot be changed.  So choose wisely, pray to God, and stick.

Alcohol is a lie.  Find out what it is before you are deceived into another sad sip of toxic, flammable, volatile poison.

Feel.

Feel pain.  Feel joy.  Feel discomfort—give all your feelings to a Higher Power, and live a great day!  Make a schedule for it, God at the top, Sleep at the bottom, and fill in the gaps with love and enterprise.

Rebuke alcohol.  Sin.  Wrong.

Welcome love and light, marry the Wife or husband of your youth, be true to the first crush, be true to love always, and as I told a couple travelers today:

“Let’s stop blowing it.”

***

Sydney and Lauren were their names, and they were the prettiest girls I have ever seen on a bus.  I lost my footing a moment when I saw them, they were so out of place.

Angels is going too far; of course I first placed them as “dancers.”  A pro dance team on holiday, taking in the sights.

Then I noticed their extensive backpacks, telling me they were probably a couple German or Czech travelers.

I had to find out, so posed some questions rapidly, choosing English first.

Turned out they were masters of the language, being American, and being recent college graduates heading out from home to a bus, to a train, to LAX airport to catch a flight to London and a five-week European adventure!

I was in shock how pretty they were.

I still am.

When you grew up like me, drunk, stupid, hoping a sports achievement would attract a woman someday, or some drunk advance… Then you wake up, get sober—discover the glory of God and beautiful women trumping any escapes or forays into useless matters like “college” or Beer.

You stop there, though, with these two because they could be your daughters.

They were born the year I graduated from college, in 1994, and so I write this message—to them and to all young people, in the hope of saying something that might better you.

Do better than me!!

Don’t drink flammable liquids, pray to God, and tell the truth.

Admit to God, yourselves and the mate of your youth the love you feel.  Be innocent.  Express fully what you feel.

Sigmund Freud said the alcoholic has an inability to express love.

Don’t be that guy or gal.  Stop blowing it and tell your first love how you feel.

Apologize to the guy you flaked on, the girl who waited for you, but you got drunk.

Be who you are.  Simplify life, and set out not at the beckon call of the loudest caller—often the devil calling you to bummers and destruction.

Wait.  Travel.  Hike.  Seek ye and ye shall find.  Ask and receive; God, Higher Power, and Heaven itself await the truly good life lived one day at a time, God on top, sleep on the bottom—

Between the lines we live our amazing dreams…

Be.

In Alcoholics Anonymous I heard the term HALT for the first time, referring to “Hungry Angry Lonely Tired,” as in: beware not to get bogged down by those feelings.  To do so, would be to risk a relapse into alcohol consumption.

It is my opinion that all crime, no matter how law enforcement labels it, comes from five sources: the four in HALT, and the devil himself.

Crime that hurts people, is not a rational thing usually, so cannot be explained or fought with rational tools.

A bomb goes off and people die.  A tragedy happens, and the many stages of grief and loss begin, one of them being anger.  With that anger, a desire for revenge for many.

Revenge is also an irrational response, and does not rationally stop the behavior that created the anger that leads to revenge.

The big missing buzz word so far is love.  Love is the irrational response to all matters good and bad—hard to give when faced with bad, like crime, but of endless value.  Forgiveness is love’s proud and proper neighbor, ready to enhance and spread like misnamed “terrorism.”

Crime is crime.  Call it “terror.”  Call it an unfortunate response to Hunger, Anger, Loneliness and/or fatigue.  The devil spinning evil, like a hurricane hitting the southeast of America, a bad storm—a necessary flip of the coin, yin to yang, the opposite of goodness, love and peace.

Lao Tzu said “we cannot change the world. It cannot be done,” and I agree, but…  It is ours to try.

Let’s try with love not hate, with forgiveness not revenge, with hugs not bombs.

An LAPD Favorite

-by Bill Watkins 5/22/2017

Police Corruption

CPC 236:
False imprisonment is the unlawful violation of the personal liberty of another.

CPC 832.5 (a) (1) Each department or agency in this state that employs peace officers shall establish a procedure to investigate complaints by members of the public against the personnel of these departments or agencies, and shall make a written description of the procedure available to the public.

BPC 6068 Attorney Duties:
(a) To support the Constitution and laws of the United States and of this state.
(f) To advance no fact prejudicial to the honor or reputation of a party or witness, unless required by the justice of the cause with which he or she is charged.
(g) Not to encourage either the commencement or the continuance of an action or proceeding from any corrupt motive of passion or interest

***

Once I posed the dangers of involving anger in police work to a Sergeant at LAPD’s Hollenbeck Division headquarters.

He answered back with enthusiasm:

“Anger helps us.  I believe it is good for officers.”

I’ve personally been arrested by LAPD twice without evidence or probable cause.  The arrests were made when I stood on the Constitution, asserted my rights…

And they got mad.

***

For both arrests, by the way, I swiftly went to court and proved my factual innocence to a judge, and am still awaiting City of Los Angeles reimbursements for the troubles they caused me, financially and otherwise.

The total personal financial cost of LAPD mistakes to me:

$2500 in bail money.

Twenty total hours lost in actual time in my life; about fifty total hours of affect, as I lost two days due to a sleep-deprived jail stay in one of those illegal arrests.

If one wondered, the criminal code for arresting and detaining a California citizen illegally without probable cause is CPC 236, spelled out above.

But practice and code are two different things, and one would be very hard-pressed to find any filings of charges against police officers in this state for a CPC 236 violation.

Unfortunately, police—including the LAPD, are protected in a biased perversion of another big code: CPC 832.5.

That is the code used and abused by City and District Attorney offices to keep a corrupt cycle of “police investigating police” whirling and swirling.

The wording is key: “complaints by members of the public against” police officers…

Complaints.  Okay, “They were rude.”  “Unprofessional.”  “Made me feel bad.”  “Made me feel scared.”  “Did not say ‘please’ or ‘thank you.”  “The officer was discourteous and ordered me around too much.”

What about Criminal Charges???

“He hurt my shoulder.”  “They had no evidence, got mad, then roughly cuffed me and arrested me.” “They shot and killed my son.”  Those are crimes, if true.  CPC 240 Assault, and CPC 236 Illegal Detainment.  187 murder, degrees of it or manslaughter.

Shouldn’t a differentiation be made between “complaints” and “criminal charges?”

Shouldn’t an independent investigator without ties to police officers investigate all criminal complaints against police?

If there is a professional standards issue, by all means—832.5 plays, and the Internal Affairs process can have their way, decide if officers did wrong.

But with criminal charges:

We need to budget and acquire a way to independently investigate a police officer—like any other citizen—of culpability in that crime.

Nixon was not above the law.  Trump is not above the law.  Neither should cops be above the law, and neither should city and district attorneys claim them as “clients” to create even more bias in the process.

The Attorney’s Oath must be followed.

RacistSexistRight1

Evolution is alive, but sometimes you cannot tell.

The old, racist, white right wing holds on, because it is “manly” and “strong” to do so.

Women and minorities are “weak;” they must remain in their place.

A black president with a crazy Muslim name must be hated—is certainly the enemy.

Hillary Clinton?  “I do declare, with my southern drawl, Madame: that Hillary Clinton suffers from improper genitalia to properly execute the office of president, or any other.”

So the Republicans sold out their morality to support the immoral, sexist, racist, uneducated self-proclaimed “smart person,” Donald Trump.

Shady Trump.  Hidden Taxes Trump.  Friend of Putin Trump.

Old and white.  Tillerson.  Old and white.  Grassley and McConnell.  Old and white.

Holding on…

***

The answer is not a stronger left wing.

As a former racist, sexist, alcoholic, white right winger, I can fairly report that two things helped me to evolve into a liberal, open-minded person:

1. Sobriety
2. Love

***

Love you congressmen and senators, people.  Love them.  Tell them you love them.  Forgive them.  The only thing worse than being abused by racism and sexism might very well be:

To be racist and sexist.

Something there is that doesn’t love a lie,
That sends the Washington Post “deep” in
And leaks anonymous sources—deep throat,
Making Truth shine like the sun.
The work of liberals is another thing:
Trump came after them to deconstruct
Where they have barely survived Roger Stone,
But they would have Carter Page out of hiding,
To please constituents from the left and right.
The rifts—no one has seen them made, but
We heard them made in First Amendment-killing
MOAB tweets and claims.  There they are
On our computers and phones; we try to ignore
Them but we can’t, so make a date in the Senate.
There we deconstruct Trump’s deconstructions,
Which is gravely presented by GOP as a lovely
Growing Tree, especially made for you and me.
Never mind Russia and 2016, as old White Men
Keep close control over the next four years.
Bipartisanship is the great dream of fools, until
Matt Schlapp and Bill Maher hug on HBO,
“Hug it out!!” yelling Kevin Dillon from sitcoms
past, reminding us all of Something.
“Good walls make good races,” exclaims Trump,
Bannon behind him—as McMaster tries to be sane
Enough for them both.  Hillary shakes her head,
Smiling not on deck per se, perhaps in baseball’s
Third-up “hole.”  The poet wishes he went with
A naval image over baseball, but it may be too
Late—both of them with sexist overtones, risking
Further hurt pointed out by poignant p-hats
In protest protesting, protesting among other
Things… all the Walls.
“Something there is that doesn’t love a wall,”
Said Frost, but neither does Something love a
Lie, I’m sure of it!!  The poet “sure of it” assuring
So many readers he’s “full of it” until he finds
Matt Schlapp, gives him another hug,
Promotes a Third Party called the Native Party
Led by cheated Native Americans.  Their
Platform a simple one:
“Pay all our debts, financial and moral.”
Trump says again, “Good walls make good races,”
But does so from his newly made Twitter jail,
Where Sally Yates confined him.  Truth is
The great Skeleton Key that opens all doors,
Shuts out Hate, providing the mortar to all
Walls of Freedom constructed—protecting love
And innocence inside.  That hug.  The open
Mind.  The listener.  The tweeter.  The dog
Eat dog Businessman “president” who to succeed
At talking must learn not to talk and do…
Until God blesses our land through Native America

U.N. Must Crack Down on Covert
Acts of War

-by Bill Watkins 5/4/2017

UNArticleImage2

How is “covert action” by the U.S. CIA legal?

Who is checking CIA activity against UN Charter world peace directives?

Someone justify the U.S. hosting an international body like the UN, committed to Peace and composed of peace-loving nations.

What besides belligerent pride and ethnocentric “exceptionalist” delusions is challenging the United States and its representatives from following UN resolutions?

From accepting UN votes?

From following a due process of law regarding international war crime suspects, instead of extrajudicial bombing of suspects?

USA:

Please join Sacha Llorenti and people like him who carry the UN Charter with pride, putting world peace ahead of U.S. passion, sometimes good—sometimes misguided.

And please consider apologizing officially to nations we have attacked with covert operations, like Guatemala, Iran, Chile, Vietnam, El Salvador.  Illegal CIA intervention into other sovereign nations’ politics has been disclosed and made public.

I fail to see any apologies.

CIA’s Inappropriate Twitter Bio Blurb Demonstrates Criminal Tendencies

CIA Bio Blurb

It’s hard to hold down my breakfast, when I look at the cocky, inappropriate, criminal-leaning Twitter bio blurb offered up on CIA’s Twitter profile page:

We are the Nation’s first line of defense.  We accomplish what others cannot accomplish and go where others cannot go.

Observe part two, something we can do in a moment with the official CIA “Mission Statement,” also suspect.  The second part of this bio could be paraphrased while wagging one’s tongue:  “We get to do whatever the heck we want, because we are superior to other people.”

Or:  we don’t have to obey laws and wait out due process, because we are so cool, derived from Yale’s Skull and Bones, darkness, extreme loyalty—naked in dark corners, blessed by the Devil.

Here’s the supposed CIA Mission, posted on their website:

Preempt threats and further US national security objectives by collecting intelligence that matters, producing objective all-source analysis, conducting effective covert action as directed by the President, and safeguarding the secrets that help keep our Nation safe.

Like their Twitter bio, fifty percent good, fifty percent “screw you, we get to do whatever under the veil of ‘secrecy.’”  Fifty percent good, fifty percent who-knows.  Defines the term diabolical.

Since 1947, when Harry S. Truman formalized the founding of CIA with a ruse cloak and dagger ceremony at the White House:  diabolical.  Secretive.  The mafia with omerta, CIA with “classified” and “covert action.”

Truman, who by some accounts, stole his vice presidency from progressive Henry Wallace, became president when FDR died, dropped two nuclear bombs on Japanese civilians:  thought it would be good, even humorous, to legitimate Espionage in the United States.

Seeking international laws and the United Nations disposition to “espionage” is a difficult task;  is as blurry as a snake in the grass.  I have today, sent this note to the United Nations contact email form:

Can someone please direct me to the United Nations disposition on “espionage,” spying, the acquisition and reporting of stolen information through secrecy, covert operations, or theft?

Part of the United States’ CIA’s official “mission statement” includes these words:

“…conducting effective covert action as directed by the President.”

Has the CIA, or any agency of other governments with like missions, been investigated/probed for the meaning of such a “directive,” to ascertain the legality of “covert action” against current international law/UN Charter directives?

The UN was founded to avert war.

How can this happen, when nations who claim to be members admit to secret “covert action” as a part of their day to day operations?

Who will hold the United States accountable for “covert action” and other extrajudicial, unilateral violence perpetrated against other nations, while they Host meetings for peace in New York?

When will the U.S. hypocrisy be called out, investigated, and thwarted for a firmer World Peace, in accordance with UN Charter provisions?

God bless us to better.

To Truth, to being proud of who and what we are.

To having first and last names when in government service work; picking up the phone at CIA or anywhere else—proud of who we are.

Not secretive, and spooky.  And shady as the Devil himself.

May our country give up covert ops, and become the democracy it claims to be, some day.

May we become real members of the United Nations; become worthy of being its host.

Amen

How I Became Convinced

-by Bill Watkins 4/26/2017

JFK Flag

Over fifty-nine years have passed since the murder of JFK, and here we are.  To me, the facts are there.  The testimony, the evidence.  All pointing away from the “official” Oswald story.

And when taken as a whole, held to the light, facts and evidence point to the Central Intelligence Agency as the likely killers of our country’s 35th president.  I could dive in here with all I have, or I could back up, recall how I got here.  The latter course seems wise, as the treacherous forest of November 22, 1963 is best navigated without emotion, when inspecting for legal guilt or innocence.

***

I grew up on the military right wing.  My father was Navy, his brothers were Navy.  One of them was Chief of Naval Operations from 1982-5, then went on to serve as George H.W. Bush’s Secretary of Energy.  That is right wing.  That is as right as you get.

On that extreme right wing you will find sympathy for war, covert operations, secrets and anything thought to contribute to “National Security.”  When Iraq invaded Kuwait, and Bush put American soldiers there to fight, I cried “Gung Ho!!” and “Go get’em, boys!!!”  And if the JFK assassination ever came up in conversation or thought, I saw two sides to the issue, one blaring—one a distant murmur.

The blaring “truth” to me at the time was that Lee Harvey Oswald killed Kennedy, because it was in my textbook, and my family never disputed this claim.  I had not studied, nor had little use or care regarding the law, constitutional or otherwise that might frown upon condemning a man as guilty of a crime without a trial.

I mentioned a “distant murmur,” and that was this wacky conspiracy theory group of “kooks,” always worried about stuff, never accepting what the government told them.  Those weirdos didn’t want to go and win wars like Trump, were communists or close to it, and nothing they said really mattered.

***

Then I got sober in March of 2002.  Before that, I had a spiritual awakening in 1995, so had begun to adore truth.  Some twelve years into my sobriety, Oliver Stone’s JFK was playing repeatedly on HBO, and of course I repeatedly passed it up, knowing Stone to be one of “those conspiracy kooks.”

The CIA had me, I later understood.  All their propaganda, the pains they take to infiltrate media, something they prided themselves in abroad and at home—from influencing Latin American elections to blaming Kennedy for the murder of a Vietnamese head of state.

I was locked into the hype and hoopla of American exceptionalism;  that we were the greatest country on earth.  It must be true because my government and military told me so…  But when that dang JFK movie aired for the fourth time in four days on my television, my spiritual recovery told me to open my mind and watch it.

On October 24, 2014 I had a Political Awakening while watching Oliver Stone’s JFK.  I was not yet Convinced of the facts around the JFK murder;  I was now just interested, shocked by the plausible story I was watching that painted the U.S. Government in a shady light.  The Oswald story began to look like the terd that it is, and I started to investigate.

The Road to “Convinced:”

There are two major primers to apply, if you wanted to follow my personal path to becoming convinced of Oswald’s innocence and CIA’s guilt for the murder of JFK:

1.  Watch JFK by Oliver Stone.  Good overview, and an entertaining way to start.

2.  Read On the Trail of the Assassins by Jim Garrison, and browse A Farewell to Justice by Joan Mellon.  You might not be convinced yet, if you do those primer steps.  But you will be ready for…

***Mark Lane:

Read Rush to Judgment, and you will become convinced before you are half-way through, that CIA killed Kennedy.  I wrote this piece, after I had finished Rush to Judgment:

The Coup of 1963

It’s very hard to become more convinced than “convinced,” but of course one keeps studying, investigating and verifying.  I moved on to Mark Lane’s second book, A Citizen’s Dissent;  it was while reading it that I first considered writing a movie screenplay about Mark, his defense of Oswald, and indicting CIA.

Before writing anything, though, I started reading Mark Lane’s third book, Plausible Denial.  It was by reading this book that I could feel more confident publishing against CIA and on behalf of the framed Lee Harvey Oswald.

Plausible Denial was damning to CIA and Howard Hunt.  The trial that it depicted was Hunt v. Liberty Lobby (1985 in Miami, Florida)—in which a jury sided with Lane that CIA and Hunt were involved in the JFK murder.

http://www.libertylobby.org/articles/2000/20000207cia.html

You may not know about Hunt v. Liberty Lobby, because that is how the CIA likes it.

In that case, the testimony of Marita Lorenz was introduced.  Marita had nothing materially to gain by putting herself on a hit list, but offered the truth out of her conscience to right past wrongs.  Though I was already convinced before reading her deposition, her placement of CIA’s Howard Hunt, Frank Sturgis and Anti-Castro Cuban CIA shooters in Dallas on November 21, 1963—Hunt the bagman…

Was the nail in the CIA coffin for this “job.”

The half-sick, half-patriotic organization that began half a ruse on the White House steps in 1946, with their cloak and dagger ceremony, had finally been hurt and scared enough to off the President of the United States, their supposed boss.  Kennedy had threatened to dismantle the CIA after the Bay of Pigs failure, had fired superspy Allen Dulles, the godfather of American espionage.

Kennedy was talking “peace” everywhere he went, closing the divide between black and white, Soviet red and our red, white and blue.  He was not even going to allow CIA their Vietnam.  He had to “go,” Hunt and others diabolically decided.  So some Anti-Castro Cubans and CIA killers shot and killed JFK, cowardly from behind some bushes, covered with police and Secret Service uniforms;  and of course aided by the complicit Dallas Police Department, whose mayor was the Kennedy-fired Deputy CIA Head Charles Cabell’s brother, Earle.

Oswald’s affiliation with FBI kept Hoover in line, CIA mapping out a cover-up, putting Allen Dulles in the middle of Johnson’s Warren Commission to protect the agency from any close scrutiny.  Obfuscating, hiding, destroying and “classifying” documents.  CIA omerta and promises of “national security.”  Every criminal organization has to have a legitimate front and plausible deniability, so there you go…

***

This article should not have convinced you that CIA killed John F. Kennedy, but I hope there is a map laid out for those who seek to find.  And to the CIA:  God bless you to better.
